On February 13, 2011, a group of fifteen Russian researchers and students returned from the U.S., where they were hosted by the Tahoe-Baikal Institute. The two-week visit, implemented within the Bilateral Presidential Commission exchange program, was aimed at investigating  the characteristics of waterbodies and ecosystems that are under the influence of natural and industrial factors. The group's agenda included discussions, presentations and site visits to Lake Tahoe and Pyramid Lake. During the program the participants developed strategies and action plans for applying the ideas, lessons and approaches learned on the tour. In addition, Russian delegates and their American colleagues identified  areas for future collaboration between the two countries.
