13.09.2008 | LEAP | Legislative Institute in Kazan: Day 1 A 4-day Legislative Education and Practice (LEAP) Follow-On Program Legislative Institute took place in Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan, Russian Federation, on September 13-16, 2008. The theme of the institute was the “Use of Technology to Allow Transparency of Legislative Processes in Russia and in the United States”. 40 university students and young professionals from Barnaul, Kazan, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vladimir and Kyiv participated in a mock legislature that simulated the legislative process in the Tatar Parliament. The institute was hosted by the Kazan City Administration, Office of Russian State Duma (Parliament) Deputy Vikoria Cherkesova, Kazan State Finance and Economics Institute and Kazan State University.

19.08.2008 | ITEACH | Summer IKT school in Nizhegorodskaya area Summer school is "Digital ecology - 2008" for children and adults conducted from 9 to August, 19 on biostation of Nizhegorodskij university, which is located on Great-lake. A main task of school is approbation of technology a "1 student : a 1 computer" is in the field terms. Every participant of school had in an order a mobile notebook which used in the researches and creative tasks. A local network and wi-fi allowed the participants of school to work not only in apartments but also on nature.

01.06.2008 | LEAP | LEAP III Photos: Fellows at Work in the U.S. The Legislative Education and Practice (LEAP) Follow-On Program was established in 2006 by the Public Affairs Section of the United States Embassy in Moscow. The Program was created to provide young Russian professionals who completed LEAP fellowships in American state legislatures an opportunity to design and lead activities aimed at sharing their hands-on experience in the day-to-day functions of U.S. state political institutions with their peers through public presentations, legislative institutes and other educational activities. In 2008 three Georgian, four Russian and one Ukrainian Fellows entered the Program upon their return from the United States. Each Fellow will carry out a number of public presentations and have an input in the legislative institute to allow young people to learn about lawmaking processes in America and better understand the political life in their own countries.
