Charity for a Schoolmate

Georgia | Momavlis Taoba - Civic Education Program | 14 Apr 2016

Civics students of Village Jurukveti public school #1 decided to support schoolmate who suffers from health problems and needs expensive treatment.

Students decided to organize a charity concert and shared information among community members, as well as in neighborhood schools. Volunteer participants of the concert were professional singers and dancers, as well as school students. Students also organized an exhibition and sale of handmade items, placed donation box and opened bank account to support. Local concert hall administration provided the space free of charge. Charity event was attended by representatives of schools, local Government and communitymembers. A total of 1029 GEL was raised to support a student in need of medical treatment.

“It was a big responsibility to organize the event. I am glad that we managed to collect such amount of money, I am glad that our initiative was successful” - said Mariam Jvartava, a civics club member of Jurukveti public school #1.

The initiative was supported by USAID-funded Momavlis Taoba Project, which is implemented by PH International
