Civics Activities of Students in Kvemo Kartli

Georgia | Momavlis Taoba - Civic Education Program | 17 Nov 2015

Students of MT program’s partner schools in Kvemo Kartli made efforts to improve school infrastructure and support economically disadvantaged people.

Students of village Ertisi public school initiated the cleaning of irrigation channel in front of the school, which flooded the school yard during the rain as it hadn’t been cleaned up for a long time. Initiative of students was appreciated and supported by the school administration and teachers. Ertisi medical center also supported students’ initiative and provided working tools for cleaning and greening activities.

In the Village Kalinino, ethnic Azeri students had a meeting with representatives of the Bolnisi municipality to discuss community problems that they have identified. The parties focused on the absence of the speed bumps and bus stop in front of the school. Local officials promised that this will be taken into consideration during the development of 2016 municipal budget. It was also decided that students will take active part in the works.

Ethnic Azeri students of Village Savaneti public school visited charity house in Bolnisi. During the visit students organized a concert for the beneficiaries of the house. Later they provided beneficiaries of the house with food and warm clothes, which they have collected in the community. Students plan to continue their support to the charity house and organize interesting events for the beneficiaries.

The above actions were organized in the framework of USAID-funded Momavlis Taoba Project, which is implemented by PH International.
