Georgia Community Action and Linkages for Legal Socialization Program (GE CALLS), in cooperation with Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs, organized a training – “Community Policing in Practice” that was held at Police Academy of Georgia on January 23 – 26, 2017. 
The Aim of the training was to provide a foundation in the theory and practice of community policing. Promote community-based problem- solving strategies to address the underlying causes of crime and disorder and the fear of crime. 
Training was led by Lt. Glenn Fossa, Community Policing Specialist (Ret.) from Fitchburg MA Police Department , who has 34 years of solid experience and demonstrated expertise in all areas of municipal law enforcement including crime prevention, administrative management, community policing and  strategic planning. 
The participants of the training included police officers from the 5th Police Station of old Tbilisi Police Division and members of the Community Policing Working Group from MIA. 
The trainer discussed the basic principles and importance of community policing for reducing crime, improving police-community relations and increasing sense of security among the community.
During the sessions the participants discussed problem-solving and partnerships opportunities, as well as risks and possible pitfalls in order to create activity plans based on CP principles. The training also included the field visits in the streets to identify and map the hotspots and plan small scale action plans to be implemented in the selected district.
