GE CALLS Batumi Project Trains Agents of Democracy

Agents of Democracy – GE CALLS-funded project in Batumi aims at preventing juvenile crime via raising children’s awareness on civic responsibilities, democratic values, involving them into civic activities. The Democracy Agents School was founded in the framework of the project, where 25 students from 5 Batumi schools will receive theoretical knowledge about democracy, human rights, gender equality etc. alongside with practical skills about how to promote democratic principles throughout community, how to plan, organize and implement activities, methods of communication to attract peers to participate in those activities. Project also envisages creation of Foundation for Agents of Democracy .The foundation will provide support for implementation of initiatives suggested by Agents. Simultaneously a special web portal will be found. After graduation from School of Democracy, “Agents” will be taught skills for managing the web portal. Each of them will have special ID and password and will publish information on different democracy-related issues; they will also arrange PR campaigns to promote their publications. Each agent will receive a specific Agent Code. One digit will be added to this code to indicate each successfully fulfilled mission. Studying at Democracy Agents School commenced last week. Trainings were held on democracy and its principles and state systems. The project is implemented by NPLE Borjghali, supported by PH International Georgia’s GE CALLS program, funded by The US Department of State’s International Bureau of Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL).
