U.S. experts share their experience on School Resource Officers' program

From January 26-30, 2016 within the AM CALLS program two US experts, Brian Williams, Assistant Principal of Burlington high school, former Principal of Burlington Sustainable Academy and Jason Lawson, SRO Program Supervisor in Burlington Police Department were invited to Armenia to share their effective experience on School Resource Officer (SRO) program.

On January 29, 19 SROs serving in Yerevan high schools and 19 school administrators, participated in a one day training facilitated by Mr. Williams and Mr. Lawson who shared their experience of effective cooperation between the school administrators and the SROs, focusing on the problems they face and the ways of addressing these problems. The trainers made a presentation on the Police system of Burlington, SRO responsibilities, and shared the key tips on building atmosphere of trust between the school staff, students, their parents and the SRO. They also presented best practices for capacity building of SROs.

The Armenian participants also shared their own practice on developing cooperation between the school administration, parents, students and SROs. The U.S. and Armenian colleagues discussed many common challenges and came up with thoughts and ideas on their best solutions.

Age Peculiarities and Adaption Practices Specific to Each Age Group | 2 Apr 2015

Over Twenty Syrian- Armenian women participated in the training organized in Yerevan by the two trainers who had recently completed training in “Non-Violent Parenting and Conflict Resolution” within the AM CALLS project. This initiative was the basis for an effective collaboration between “Save the Children” working with Syrian Armenians and PH International staff.

Motherhood and Childhood | 9 Mar 2015

On March 9, within the AM CALLS project, the “Offenders' Rehabilitation Center” State Non-Commercial Organization of the RA Ministry of Justice (MoJ) organized an event called “Motherhood and Childhood” at the Abovyan penitentiary where female convicts carry out their sentence. During the event, over ten children arrived to the penitentiary from different regions of Armenia to meet their mothers and celebrate International Women’s Day with their mothers.
