English Access Microscholarship Program 2015 Summer Camp (June 28-30, 2015) | 6 Jul 2015

June 2015 was a month of highlights and intensive learning for 60 (54 core students and 6 alternative students) Armenian students enrolled in the Access English Microscholarship Program implemented by PH International. Throughout June 28-30, 60 high students and their teachers from 3 regional towns of Armenia, Nor Hachn in Kotayk region, Goris in Syunik region, and Chambarak in Gegharkunik region, the three program sites, got together with Mariam Martirosyan, PHI’s Program Manager and the support facilitators (Kristina Abrahamyan, the English instructor of Nor Hachn group, Margarita Abgaryan, the English instructor from Goris, and Asya Torosyan, the English instructor of Chambarak group) in a central camp in Aghveran, a regional resort complex, to participate in intensive English language summer camps organized within the two-year English Access Microscholarship Program. The program offers the only free-of-charge option for English classes in most of the participants’ communities.

Dilijan ACCESS Students Meet U.S. Programs Alumni | 22 Nov 2013


On Nov. 15, 2013, the Central Bank’s Dilijan Center of “Knowledge for Development” hosted the ACCESS program students and their guests from Yerevan: Aleksandr Shagafyan, Project Coordinator of U.S. Alumni Association of Armenia, and Rouben Mirakyan, Fulbright Program Alumnus, the founder of Armenian E-books, who spoke to the students about their career development. Afterwards, Mariam Martirosyan of PHI talked to the students about her professional path and shared with students her ideas about leadership and management. Then the group learnt about popular styles of leadership and discussed which style is best to apply in which situation.

Armenian Access Students and Teachers in Kyiv-based Program Summit | 16 Oct 2013


On Oct. 1-5, 2013 three Armenian students and two educators from Chambarak, Nor Hachn and Dilijan, Armenia that participate in PH International's Access Program, traveled to Kyiv to join Access Program's Summit with 23 other students and 10 teachers coming from Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Moldova, and Georgia.

English Summer Camp for Armenia ACCESS Students | 29 Aug 2013


Throughout August 25-27, 54 high school students from 3 regional towns of Armenian, Nor Hachn, Dilijan and Chambarak, got together in Tsaghkadzor to participate in an intensive English language summer camp organized within the two-year English ACCESS Microscholarship Program. The program offers the only free-of-charge option for English classes in most of the participants’ communities.

In Sept. 2012, having begun the program with little to no competence of English, the students now got actively engaged in different English sessions related to youth role in movements for social change, on Web 2.0 technologies and social media, on cross-cultural differences, on environmental issues, etc.

Cross-regional Networking and Training Event for 60 ACCESS Armenian Students from Nor Hachn, Chambarak and Dilijan | 14 Oct 2012


On Oct. 12, the English ACCESS MicroScholarship Program brought together 60 students and their teachers from Diljan, Nor Hachn, and Chambarak to participate in a networking event based in Dilijan’s High School. The event offered the students a chance to know their peers from other program sites, to meet alumni of U.S. government funded PH programs and, the representatives of the Public Affairs Section in the U.S. Embassy in Armenia.

54 Students from Dilijan, Nor Hachn and Chambarak Start their English Classes | 13 Sep 2012



In the towns of Dilijan, Nor Hachn and Chambarak, the three ACCESS Armenia sites, 54 students from socially vulnerable families are selected and ready to participate in the program.

The recruitment was conducted through 2 stages: review of submitted application forms and assessment of interviews. The applicant’s level of social need was also taken into consideration. Out of 86 students who had applied to the program, 18 students are selected in each site.

The students have already taken an English Language Competency diagnostic test which they will retry at the end of the 2-year intensive after-school English instruction to measure their language acquisition progress and success.
