ACCESS Alumni Association created in sessions at Orlyonok children’s center.

Russia | English Access Microscholarship Program | 21 Oct 2013

From October 16 – 22, 2013 the Russian Children’s Center “Orlyonok” hosted a training for ACCESS Alumni. Seventeen alumni representing 13 cities of Russia as well as ACCESS teachers and trainers gathered on the Black Sea shore to discuss the possible development of a Russian ACCESS Alumni Association.

The training participants learned about examples of this type of association and about their principles of work and development. They got to know about development and management of educational and social projects, learned how to attract people and provide for their involvement. Several sessions were devoted to fundraising efforts, online video-conferences, and tolerance issues.

From the very beginning of the training, alumni agreed that the idea of creating an alumni association is vital and worth working on. They spent 5 days working on the association’s development: discussed the goals of the association, and principles for membership. They also planned the association’s activities.

The training culminated by the leader’s and board members’ elections. Adel Zabbarov, alumnus from Kazan, now residing in Moscow has become the leader of the ACCESS Alumni Association. The board and the working group will continue working on the Association’s development and planning. One hundred forty participants of the ACCESS camp hosted by Orlyonok from October 10-30, 2013 were introduced to the newly born Association.
