Nalchik ACCESS Summer Camp came to its conclusion in Kabardino-Balkaria

Russia | English Access Microscholarship Program | 5 Jul 2012

Nalchik Summer Camp (15.06.2012-05.07.2012) for 10 children was held at Kabardino-Balkarian State University. The University provided an excellent opportunity for us to work in a modern multimedia classroom with all necessary equipment and technologies.
The classes began at 10 a.m. and lasted until 3 p.m. Academic hours totaled 60 hours altogether.
The main goals of the camp were to give the students as much language practice as possible in a friendly and positive atmosphere; to use more out-of-class activities to motivate and encourage them to speak English most of the time and to help them get some general idea of the history of the USA, its geography, and cultural peculiarities.
Diverse teaching materials – games, video, audio, Internet, and text resources – were used at the camp.
Upon completion of the camp the students became more self-assured, sociable, and overcame their fear and shyness. They improved their language and communication skills by taking part in different activities and becoming team players.
