Students Engage Local Communities to improve Environment in the village

Georgia | Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training (ACETT) program for Georgia | 5 May 2014

Students from a local civics club decided to rehabilitate wind protection alley in the village Shroma. They managed to mobilize the community, as well as local government officials. Students have received tree seedlings from community members, while local authorities helped with transportation and identified proper places for planting. Many local residents took part in the greening action and arranged small fences around the newly-planted trees. As a result of this joint effort, a total of 350 trees were planted in five different places in the village.
