Students Advocate for the Clean Environment

Civics club students organized a campaign to increase public awareness about ecological problems in Poti. They have prepared and distributed leaflets asking the people to keep the city clean, organized cleaning and tree planting actions in school yards and arranged small banners on the trash cans aiming to avoid pollution of streets by the people. The above activities were held in close cooperation with the local municipality. Students also initiated to start “ecological patrol”, the idea was supported by the local municipality. It was agreed that eco-monitoring group will include civics club students, representatives of local education resource centers and youth house. Activities were implemented in the framework of the Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program, which is implemented by PH International in Georgia.
