Heating Improved in a Local School in Batumi

Georgia | Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training (ACETT) program for Georgia | 25 Feb 2014

Civics club students of Batumi public school #14 decided to involve outside partners to improve heating facilities at their school. Students, with support of the teacher wrote a letter to Supreme Council of Adjara and explained the needs in terms of the obsolete heating system and absence of connection to the natural gas supply system of the city. Later on, a meeting was arranged with the Head of the Supreme Council Avtandil Beridze. As a result of the meeting, appropriate bodies started the works in fall 2013. School has a new heating system now and students enjoy comfortable environment for their studies. “We are very happy … that the problem was resolved thanks to our initiative and as a result of cooperation with government. We have many important ideas and hope that all of them will be resolved as successfully as this one!”- says Mariam Beridze, a civics club student. Initiative was carried out in the framework of the Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program (ACETT), which is implemented by PH International in Georgia.
