Upcoming Cooperation among Civics Clubs and Georgian National Film Center

Georgia | Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training (ACETT) program for Georgia | 28 Jan 2014

School-based civics clubs will take part in a new project of the Georgian National Film Center (GNFC) titled “Film in the School”. The project aims to promote tolerance and humanistic ideas among students through cinematography. Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia advised the Center to involve ACETT’s school-based civics clubs in this process. Approximately 30 civics clubs from different regions of Georgia will host film screenings and follow-up discussions facilitated by film critics. After obtaining a contest form ACETT, Georgian National Film Center announced a competition for the appropriate specialists who will organize and facilitate film screenings at civics clubs in selected schools. Those clubs, which are the winners of ACETT’s civics club equipment competition have most of the needed equipment available and can offer good infrastructure for such initiative. The idea was welcomed by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. GNFC plans to start implementation of the project in schools in spring 2014. The second phase of the project may involve trainings conducted by GNFC professionals in movie studious that will help students to independently develop the scenarios and shoot the films on selected topics.
