In Chiatura “Civic Clubs Park” was launched by the decision of local municipality. Initiative started from the school based civics club students who often organized different civics activities on the territory of park. Establishing of the park was initiated at the Youth Forum as a part of environment protection project, in April 2013. “This project was initiated at Youth Forum. We established cooperation with NGO “Chiaturelta Kavshiri” and organized marsh-movement in the central part of the city. Slogan of the movement was “Protect the environment!” and more than 70 people took part in it” says Nino Neparidze, civics club student from Chiatura public school #1. Later trainings were held for the school based civics club students about importance of the protection of environment. As a result, students’ decided to establish Civics Club Park in partnership with local municipality. “This is the place where we can gather and conduct various civics activates. There is also a banner of the park “Civics Club Park” and civics students are responsible to clean up and care the territory. Recently we painted the walls. We plan lots of activities on the territory of the park and we are going to share experience and information about the ACETT programs and projects to larger audience of the city” says Ani Metskhovrisvili, Tsikvali public school civics club student. Initiative was held in the framework of the USAID funded Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program (ACETT), which is implemented by PH International in Georgia.
