USAID Democracy and Governance Office Deputy Director visits Akhaltsikhe to Attend Final Event of the Civics Integration Camp

On November 27, 2013 Mr. David Stonehill, USAID Democracy and Governance Office Deputy Director visited Akhaltsikhe to participate in the final event of the Civics Integration Camp. Participants of Civic Integration Camp, students from Georgian and Armenian schools of Akhaltsikhe region presented the photos of the integration camp and follow-on activities. During the event, students in groups made a presentation of six projects that were initiated during the integration camp and later implemented jointly for the benefit of the school and community. Video film about camp activities and implemented projects were also presented. Event was attended by representatives of USAID, PH International, Akhaltsikhe Youth House, local municipality, media, students and civics teachers from partner schools of the ACETT program. In the end of the meeting Mr. Stonehill thanked students for the interesting presentations and underlined the importance of the civic education and involvement of the students of different nationalities in the democratic processes. All the participants of the camp were awarded with special prizes. The event ended at the historical place of Akhaltsikhe “Rabati” castle. The event was organized in the framework of the Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program (ACETT), which is implemented by PH International in Georgia and funded by USAID.
