Training for the Members of Disciplinary Committees of Seven GLSP schools | glsp | 20 Dec 2011


On December 7-9, 2011 GLSP staff organized a three-day training workshop for the school-based Disciplinary Committees. The workshop was attended by the representatives of seven Disciplinary Committees from Tbilisi and Rustavi public schools and school wardens working in the selected schools. GLSP experts Giorgi Gakheladze, Lia Giagauri and GLSP program manager served as trainers and facilitators of the workshop.

Many ACETT students have started using blogs as a means for greater civic engagement. A ceremony was held December 9, 2011 at the “Vere Palace” hotel in Tbilisi to award prizes to the winners of this year's blog competition in the areas of Youth Volunteer, Youth Ombudsman, Nature Defender, Citizen Journalist, and Advocacy of Health Lifestyles.

English Language through Civic Education (ELCE) Program is about to launch into an active phase. Starting from February 2012 four American experts will work with the English language teachers of Georgia in five regions of Imereti, Samegrelo, Adjara, Shida Kartli da Kakheti in three teacher training cycles. Over 250 English teachers will be directly trained by American experts in the lifespan of the program. The trainings will focus on pedagogy and methodology of English language instruction as well as bringing civic education content into an English language class.


Teacher training modules and civics supplementary materials being developed by PH’s partner in the program - the Center of Intercultural Education and Development of Georgetown University, are going through final edits and PH is nearly through with the recruitment of four American English Language Teacher Trainers. Seems the ship is ready to sail away.
