Before coming to the United States as a high school exchange student, Raymond Okyere-Forson, was already a respected young leader in his home community of Ashaiman, Ghana for establishing GreenAid in 2012. The skills he learned in PH International’s Global New Media Lab (GNML) while studying in the U.S. allowed him to build on his leadership skills and use social media for greater civic engagement.
Twenty six U.S. Department of State-sponsored International high school students from 16 different countries around the globe attended PH International's one-week Youth TechCamp at Champlain College from March 22-28.
The successful third and final year of GNML Online, a component of Global New Media Lab ended in March. The five month online Social Media for Social Change training program engaged students independently to work with seven social media platforms: Blogger, Google Alerts, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. The U.S. Department of State and PH International proudly awarded 91 GNML Online Certificates of Completion to A-SMYLE, FLEX, and YES students currently living throughout the US. Students receiving Certificates of Completion have completed a professional Social Media for Social Change Campaign raising awareness of an issue in their home communities. We encourage all GNML Online students to continue building their Social Media for Social Change Campaigns and to teach others when they return home from their year abroad in the United States! Congratulations to all participants!
PH International is excited to launch the online application for the 3rd Youth TechCamp to be hosted at Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont on March 23-27, 2015.
