Overview
Civics club students of Khopuri public school decided to conduct information campaign to promote natural resources of the village. Information campaign aimed to inform society about the existing of mineral water in the village and promote rehabilitation of infrastructure around natural spring. Students found out that the test of the water was proved and its treatment properties are close to famous Georgian mineral water “Borjomi”, but this information was known for the villagers only. Besides, the territory needed the rehabilitation.

As a result of students’ efforts, from the beginning of 2016 Lentekhi municipality will provide the rehabilitation works around the spring of mineral water. The rehabilitation works will include reconstruction of the road leading to the spring, construction of the fence around it to protect the water from further pollution, placing of garbage cans and reconstruction of the water tap.

Students continue the information campaign: they made photos and video of the place and shared information about the natural resources of the village through the social media. After the rehabilitation of the infrastructure students are going to cooperate with travel agencies. They will prepare flyers with photos and information about the properties of natural mineral spring to promote tourism in their village.

Information about students’ initiative and activities was covered by Georgina Public Broadcaster in its program “Realuri Sivtse”.

The min-grant project was supported by USAID-funded Momavlis Taoba Project, which is implemented by PH International.
