Georgia | Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training (ACETT) program for Georgia | 2 Apr 2014

Success
Road signs were placed in Rustavi micro district #12 as the result of the advocacy campaign carried out by civics club students. This started with the identification of community problems, one of which was unsafe traffic in the mentioned micro district. There were no road signs near the circle of four roads from Marneuli, Bolnisi, Gardabani and Tsalka. There is a heavy traffic on the circle. Students met with City Mayor and the Deputy Mayor to discuss the problem. The letter which was prepared for local municipality was redirected to Patrol Police. The result was achieved quite soon and 9 road signs were placed to ensure safe traffic of automobiles and pedestrians

The achieved is a result of civics integration camp for school-based civics clubs in Kvemo Kartli, which took place in Rustavi in January 2014. At the camp, students were given opportunity to plan their advocacy projects for the benefit of their schools and communities.
Activities were implemented in the framework of the Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program, which is implemented by PH International in Georgia.
