Peer Education Trainings in the Framework of “Social Media at Schools” Component

Georgia | Georgian Legal Socialization Project | 10 Oct 2011

One of the components of Legal Socialization Program, “Social Media at Schools” is to offer students an updated program. This direction of Legal Socialization Program was first launched last year and achieved significant success. However, considering the experience acquired so far, the program content was updated and now is available for new students as well as for winners of last year bloggers competition. This sms-year started with the presentations of the component at newly selected 18 schools in Tbilisi, Marneuli, Samtredia, Gori and Akhaltsikhe. 60 9th and 10th graders were selected from the pool of applicants who will attend the basic social media training in November. As for the trainers, the program expert, Ms. Dodie Kharkheli, will be joined by new trainers, who previously used to be program participants. In September 2011 they attended the “Peer Educator Training Program” in Kutaisi and now are ready to enrich the knowledge received with the practical experience. They will have the opportunity to test their competencies in the role of peer educators in social media and, thus, instead of being just beneficiaries they will be actively involved in the program implementation as resource-persons with interesting experience, useful information and practical advises providing significant support to their peers.
