News | Program: Momavlis Taoba - Civic Education Program

A book and my school | 29 Sep 2017


Students of Patriketi school, in the framework of MT program, received a mini-grant to enrich the school library with new books and promote literacy among youth. Students arranged a green-box in the school and organized a book collection in the community. Students renewed old books in the library. A discussion “My favorite Hero” and reading hours with younger students of the school were held in the frame of the mini-grant.

Better environment for future generation | 27 Sep 2017


Students of Shashiani public school initiated a mini-grant project to promote a healthy lifestyle in their village and to arrange outdoor sport equipment in the park located in the center of the village. Besides installing sports equipment, students organized a greening action, arranged flower-beds and planted flowers there. The students' initiative was supported by the community members and the local government. The parents were involved in renovation activities and the local government installed a banner in the park. Once the sports equipment was installed in the park, the students organized a sports competition with participation of their peers from neighbor village Mukuzani.

Greening of School Yard in the Village Kvemo Akhalsheni of Adjara Region | 26 Sep 2017


Students of the village Kvemo Akhalsheni public school carried out a survey to identify critical problems for the students. Marshland in the school yard was identified as one of the problems. Students cooperated with rangers, environmental office and local government representatives as well as community members to get information about the trees that are good at drying the marshlands. They drafted out a plan of the swamp area and planted trees in the school yard. Students prepared a short video, informational booklets and organized photo and drawing exhibitions at the school.  The information about the project was covered by local media.

On May 13, 2017 Aleksandre Jejelava, Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Tom Morris, Deputy Mission Director of USAID and Marina Ushveridze, Chief of Party of “Momavlis Taoba” program welcomed participants of Civics Teachers’ National Fair-Conference at the Tbilisi Exhibition Center.

Students meeting with media representatives | 2 May 2017


Gender media center in Batumi hosted the civics students from Momavlis Taoba program partner schools in Adjara region and  Director of public broadcaster TV/ Radio Company Adjara, Natia Kapanadze.  Students presented implemented projects and videos, discussed future cooperation of media representatives in civics initiatives and projects.

MT Students conducted information campaign against bullying | 27 Apr 2017


On April 26, 2017 Batumi City Hall hosted civics students from Momavlis Taoba program partner schools in Adjara region. Students made presentation of the projects on bullying prevention issues initiated in Youth Forum. Students of Batumi #23, Kirnati, Maradisi and Acharistsklis public schools conducted information campaign at schools and in the community to increase public awareness on bullying and its prevention.Videos and paintings were presented as well. Event was covered by local TV Company "Adjara".

On April 20, 2017 young citizens, winners of video advocacy and civics teachers winners of MT’s blog contest “messages about civics education” from different regions of Georgia were awarded.

Charity action in Senaki | 23 Mar 2017


Civics students in Senaki Lyceum organized charity action to support peers from five vulnerable families. Information about charity even was shared through the social media, donation box was placed in Senaki Youth Center. As the result of students efforts  500 lari was gather through the action, besides Senaki Lyceum administration is ready to support the education of two students from these families for free.



Local municipality and school administration supported students’ initiative.

Project -"We all are equal" | 7 Mar 2017


Students of Bobokvati public school in Kobuleti municipality supported by McLain association for children within MT program initiated to arrange the ramp in front of the school and help integration of children with disabilities in to society.

Presentation and photo exhibition of the projects carried out by students | 27 Feb 2017


On February 25, 2017 Youth Palace in Tbilisi hosted students from Tbilisi partner schools of civics education Momavlis Taoba program. Students presented projects carried out for the benefit of their schools and communities. Exhibition of posters reflecting the work of students was presented as well.
