Students of village Purtio public school carried out community survey to identify critical problems for their community. Cutting of the trees was identified as one of the problems. Students prepared short video on a topic and showed it in a meeting with environmental office representatives and community members.
Students of Abasha public school #1 decided to renovate a school gym in the framework of MT mini-grant project “Our choice is healthy lifestyle”. Students, parents and teachers took part in the cleaning action. Students met with representatives of Abasha Municipality and school alumni to get additional money for gym rehabilitation.
Youth Festival was held in in the framework of the USAID-funded "Momavlis Taoba" program in Akhalkalaki, Samtske-Javakheti region. Participants of the festival were MT program partner Georgian and Armenian sector schools students from the region.
Students of Kaspi gymnasium decided to arrange the space/room for children with special needs. School administration supported the students’ initiative and provided the space. Sponsored by mini-grant, furniture adapted for the students with special needs was purchased for this room. At the beginning of the project students conducted research in the community to know about the needs of the people with special needs. They found out that in Kaspi there is no day center for children with special needs, where they could develop their skills and integrate with peers.
Students of Zestaponi school “Anabasisi” cooperated with the school administration which aimed to enrich the school library with new books and promote reading among youth. Students organized an action “one book for the school library” and collected 100 new books. The school administration supported the project and conducted renovation of the library.
Students of Khashuri Municipality's Vaka village public school initiated an event to promote a healthy lifestyle in their village and to arrange outdoor exercise equipment in the school yard. Once the village was well known for its famous wrestlers, but unfortunately now young people are less involved in sport.
On July 31, 2016 Batumi Boulevard hosted an expo-sale of handicrafts made by students of Batumi Gymnasium “21st Century” and by the beneficiaries of Batumi Day Center for Disabled Children. The same day the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the above mentioned institutions and the opening of a social enterprise was held. The social enterprise will continue operation in Batumi Day Center for Disabled Children. The participants and guests of the event had the opportunity to see, buy and take part in the creating process of handmade items.
Civics club students of the Vazisubani village public school initiated the arrangement of an outdoor green space on their school's territory. Students met with the Head of Vazisubani municipality and the Governor of Gurjani municipality of Kakheti region to advocate for the arrangement of the space. Local administration representatives liked the students’ initiative and provided tree seedlings and benches for the school yard. Civics club students took an active part in the cleaning and greening activities.
Students of Jinvali public school Ana Ganiashvili, Tornike Gulishvili and Giorgi Nakeuri, in the framework of the MT program's nationwide competition “Social Media for Positive Changes”, created a Facebook page named “Facebook Museum of Jinvali Water Reservoir” for sharing photos and stories collected from archives, libraries and interviews with community members. https://goo.gl/435asd
Students of Martvili Municipality's Balda village public school initiated a civics classroom project to promote tourism in their village. As a result of the students’ cooperation with local authorities, bilingual banners with signs leading to historical places were made and placed in the village.
