World Aids Day

Georgia | Momavlis Taoba - Civic Education Program | 19 Dec 2014

Students of Momavlis Taoba program in Gori marked World AIDS Day on December 1. The meeting, organized by the “Biliki Society” aimed to raise public awareness about HIV/AIDS and reaffirm the support for people living with HIV. Information about HIV/AIDs prevention, treatment and rehabilitation was shared by a doctor and a representative of a local NGO “Nabiji Momavlisaken”. Participants of the meeting emphasized that the celebration of the World AIDS Day is important as it reminds the public and Government that HIV has not gone away – there is still a vital need to increase awareness, fight prejudices and improve education.

Students received informational materials which they will disseminate in their schools. Eighteen students volunteered to take HIV test to promote peer awareness about the importance of early testing.

The event was organized in the framework of Momavlis Taoba Program, which is being implemented by PH International in Georgia.
