Seminar of regional NGOs to promote civic education and democracy in Georgia

Georgia | Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training (ACETT) program for Georgia | 15 Oct 2010

On October 13-14 PH International, in the framework of USAID funded Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program (ACETT) conducted working seminar for nine regional partner NGOs. The purpose of the seminar was to discuss the partnership’s programmatic and financial procedures, and elaborate detailed action plans for the promotion of civic education in all program regions. With the aim of translating knowledge into action in ways that develop confidence in the value of civic participation, ACETT will encourage an ethic of participatory democracy in school administrators, teachers, students and the broader community that creates a foundation for constructive and effective citizen participation. During the seminar, NGO representatives shared their experiences and outlined regional specifics as important factors in the program implementation. Through collaborative planning process, partner NGOs developed detailed action plans to start implementation of applied civic education practicum, small grant projects and social networking with students, teachers and community members in 479 schools nationwide.
