Review of the National Curriculum of Civic Education in Georgia

On September 25, 2010, PH International organized a review of the draft national civic education curriculum in the framework of the USAID-funded Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program. The event was held in Tbilisi, attended by experts from professional associations, local and international organizations, academics, civics teachers and school directors. At the review meeting, participants were welcomed by Marina Ushveridze, Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program Director. Marina spoke about the goals of the meeting and briefly covered activities of ACETT program. George Gakheladze, Civic Education Expert from the National Curriculum and Assessment Center of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, presented the draft civic education curriculum. The Ministry of Education and Science is expected to approve the curriculum for the years 2011-2016. All those who participated in the meeting provided feedback and insights on the draft, which PH will provide to the Ministry to help guide further improvement of the curriculum.
