“Kids, Cops and Safety” After School Program Welcomes Special guests

Tbilisi public school #84 was visited by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, James A. Walsh and Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs for Georgia Archil Talakvadze. Guests had an opportunity to attended the after school class on road safety led by Police Officer along with the School Resource Officer.

On December 15, 2015, Borjomi Youth Center hosted representatives of INL, PH International, Local Government, schools and NGO sector at the grand opening ceremony.

22 Patrol officers will teach road safety in schools, using nonformal education methods

The program - Kids, Cops & Safety has been implemented  by GE Calls in five pilot schools of Tbilisi, through collaboration with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.  Ater several successful and playful meetings were held at schools, MIA took initiative to support 22 more patrol officers to deliver road safety lessons at other schools using GE Calls module and by using non-formal education methods.

GE Calls program has commenced by taking community policing approach, bringing joy, interesting topics and friendly interaction with patrol officers and elementary school classes. After intensive trainings in non-formal education, acquisition of the special module which is based on physical activities and games, after-class meetings have started in five schools of Tbilisi.  


Informal meetings with SROs and Police officers for elementary classes

In August 2015,  the trainer of youth center and informal education was hired by GE Calls to create detailed modules for SROs, teachers and police officers to facilitate the meetings with elementary school students. The goal of the meetings is to raise awareness regarding such issues as: childrens’ rights, healthy lifestyle, road safety, conflict management and other.
