Small Grants projects are in Process of Implementation

Armenia | Armenia Community Action and Linkages for Legal Socialization | 22 Apr 2016

AM CALLS staff is making regular monitoring visits to the six communities by providing close oversight and guidance in the process of implementation of small grants. As establishment of Parents’ Clubs was a mandatory component of the projects, AM staff encouraged the grantees to recruit parents who are enthusiastic and open to new initiatives, with sense of community ownership and are willing to allocate time and efforts for that initiative. While recruiting the parents the grantees also considered the status of the family. Thus, women from disadvantaged families with youth at risk were particularly encouraged to participate.

As agreed with the grantees, they served as local platforms and provided any support for the establishment and functioning of the Parents’ Clubs, including appropriate financial and human resources available. Considering that promotion of the parents’ academic and personal growth was a key factor leading to the formation of better relations in their families, the NGO representatives developed special action plans to be facilitated by the staff of their organizations as well as the specialists trained in positive parenting skills within the Parenting component of the AM CALLS Year 2 project. During their work with the parents the grantees actively apply the Resource Kit developed by the four experts.
