Launch of AM CALLS 2014-15 Community Grants

Armenia | Armenia Community Action and Linkages for Legal Socialization | 29 Oct 2014

As of July 2014, the AM CALLS program started its second year of implementation. The Community Grants is one of the key components of the 2nd year.

For the implementation of this component seven pre-qualified NGOs were selected as program partners. All seven NGOs have a proven record of high performance as Community Justice Centers (CJC) within PHI's legal socialization programs. The selection criteria included their organizational maturity, the level of their involvement in Restorative Justice practices and collaboration with the police. The NGOs were requested to develop mini-projects on the thematic areas (design of tools and mechanisms supporting development of parenting skills, prevention of domestic violence, juvenile delinquency and child abuse, etc.) identified as urgent issues during the community dialogues conducted in November 2013 in the selected four AM CALLS communities of Vanadzor, Gyumri, Ejmiatsin and Metsamor. Currently the AM CALLS is in the process of reviewing and assessing the seven proposals submitted by the NGOs. Once the assessment is over, the proposals will be submitted to the U.S. State Department, Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) for final review and approval.
